Greek mountain tea made from the leaves, flowers and stems of Greek verbena (Sideritis scardica) is also called shepherd's tea. Today it is still grown wild in the Greek regions at altitudes of 1,000 m and above.
Traditionally, Greek mountain tea is prepared by adding the dried plant (5 g per 300 ml of water) to boiling water and letting it steep for 5 minutes. The tea is then served with a little honey and perhaps lemon juice and drunk hot.
